The White House warned staffers not to use insider information to place bets on prediction markets as critics grow suspicious of lucrative trading activity around the Iran war.

A White House official confirmed to The Post that the warning was sent to all staffers in an email from the White House Management Office on March 24.

A day earlier, anonymous accounts made a blitz of trades just 15 minutes before President Trump announced a pause on strikes on Iran for five days, according to the Wall Street Journal. In less than two minutes, more than $760 million worth of oil futures contracts had changed hands, Dow Jones Market Data showed.

The White House warned staffers not to use insider information to place bets on prediction markets. Getty Images

Then, three accounts on Polymarket raked in more than $600,000 this week by correctly betting on the timing of the ceasefire. The identity of the traders remains unknown.

Polymarket did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

Prediction markets like it and Kalshi allow traders to wage bets on everything from politics, sports and pop culture to the likelihood of the president saying “Sleepy Joe” or “Trump Derangement Syndrome” on a certain day.

Critics have been quick to blast the perfectly-timed wartime trades as instances of insider trading, and members of Congress have recently introduced several bills seeking to restrict public officials’ use of futures markets.

Ethics rules already ban government workers from using insider scoops for personal gain and from gambling while on federal property, but critics have argued that’s not enough.

“President Trump has been crystal clear: while he seeks a strong and profitable stock market for everyone, members of Congress and other government officials should be prohibited from using nonpublic information for financial benefit,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle told The Post.

“The only special interest that will ever guide President Trump is the best interest of the American people,” Ingle said.

A flurry of suspicious trades were made 15 minutes before President Trump announced a pause on strikes on Iran. Westend61 – stock.adobe.com

He added that any implication that Trump administration officials have engaged in insider information is “baseless and irresponsible reporting.”

In January, an unknown trader won more than $400,000 from bets that Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro would soon be out as leader – less than five hours before his capture by US forces.

Bettors reaped $54 million from wagers on former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s ouster that were placed before he was killed in US-Israeli air strikes.

Kalshi is currently being sued for refusing to pay out those winnings, arguing that the bets do not count because the platform does not allow wagers related to death.

Meanwhile, Israel has arrested several people – including military reservists – for allegedly using classified information to place bets on Polymarket about military strikes.

Polymarket accounts raked in more than $600,000 this week by correctly betting on the timing of the ceasefire. AFP via Getty Images

US states have argued that the increasingly popular markets are the same as online gambling platforms, which require approval for state licenses and bans on users under 21.

Arizona, Connecticut and Illinois are currently fighting for the ability to restrict prediction markets.

New Jersey’s efforts to do the same recently suffered a major setback when a federal appeals court ruled Kalshi is under the exclusive jurisdiction of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

Last month, Kalshi and Polymarket added new anti-insider trading rules to their platforms as members of Congress introduced a flurry of legislative proposals aimed at the new markets.

Sens. John Curtis (R-Utah) and Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) have pushed legislation to hand over control of prediction markets to state regulators, while lefty California Gov. Gavin Newsom banned state-appointed officials with insider information from using the markets.

Prediction markets like Kalshi and Polymarket allow traders to wage bets on politics, sports and pop culture. NurPhoto via Getty Images

Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) also announced a ban on prediction markets among his office staffers, and last week blasted a Polymarket contract linked to the rescue mission of a US service member whose plane was shot down over Iran.

“They could be your neighbor, a friend, a family member. And people are betting on whether or not they’ll be saved,” Moulton wrote in a post on X. “This is DISGUSTING.”

In a response to Moulton’s criticism, Polymarket wrote: “We took this market down immediately as it does not meet our integrity standards. It should not have been posted, and we are investigating how this slipped through our internal safeguards.”

Sens. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Andy Kim (D-NJ) also introduced legislation that would ban prediction markets related to war or military action.

Dems have also taken aim at the Trump family’s ties to prediction markets, since Donald Trump Jr. is an adviser to both Kalshi and Polymarket.

Supernal, which makes vertical take-off prototypes, revealed last week it was axing 296 jobs at plants in Orange County and Fremont and at a test site in Mojave.

The $1.7 billion startup, which relocated from Washington DC to California three years ago, said it would consolidate operations to its Irvine headquarters.

A spokesman told the Orange County Register: “This decision is a strategic pivot to ensure our staffing and cost structures are optimized for the long-term delivery of our market-aligned aircraft design.

“Hyundai Motor Group remains committed to the Advanced Air Mobility business as part of its future mobility vision, and Supernal will continue to serve as the group’s dedicated AAM execution arm for aircraft development.”

They added the focus “remains on stabilizing the company, shaping a new business model, and developing a commercially viable aircraft.”

Hyundai reshuffled the leadership structure at Supernal in September and has been struggling with test flights for autonomous EVs in Mojave.

After 10% of its workforce was laid off last summer, 80 remain.

It is the latest blow for business in California as rafts of companies scale back in the Golden State amid high taxes.

Last week the Post reported major wine manufacturer Gallo was closing a large Napa Valley production facility, wiping out nearly 100 jobs.

Wine makers are pulling the cork on California.

Another giant in the world-famous wine growing region is shutting down and slashing staff, making it the fourth since the start of 2026.

Jackson Family wines has stopped production at its Carneros Hill facility in Sonoma’s Carneros region, laying off more than a dozen employees, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice filed with California authorities on February 12.

Communications director Sean Carrol told the SF Chronicle that Carnero’s Hill – previously owned by Buena Vista Winery – “served as overflow production capacity and was not tied to any specific brand.”

The Jackson Family Wines confirmed the closure of the facility. Ilya S. Savenok

He added the site had “become underutilized,” allowing the company to consolidate.

Jackson Family Wines is known as one of the top US wine producers, the sixth largest wine company in the country.

It owns the Kendall-Jackson label and about 40 other brands, producing around six million cases a year, according to an industry review. More than 25 of those wineries are in the Golden State.

Last week, major winemaker Gallo announced the closure of a large production facility and the elimination of nearly 100 jobs across the wine growing region of Napa and Sonoma counties.

Considered the world’s largest winemaker by volume, Gallo filed a “warning” notice with the California Employment Development Department on Feb. 12, confirming it will permanently pull the cork on the Ranch Winery in St. Helena.

Jackson Family Wines owns the famed Kendall-Jackson label. Getty Images for NYCWFF

Gallo is also slashing staff at some of its other labels, including the Louis M. Martini Winery and the Orin Swift Tasting Room in St. Helena, as well as J Vineyards and Frei Ranch in Healdsburg.

“Gallo is aligning parts of our operations with our long‑term business strategy to ensure we remain well‑positioned for future success,” a spokesperson for the company told The Post.

“As part of this process, we made the difficult decision to reduce certain Wine Country operations. These changes are driven by market dynamics, evolving consumer demand, and available capacity across our wineries.”

Earlier this month, Foley Family Wines & Spirits shut down its production facility for the historic Central Coast winery Chalone.

Four major wine makers have announced closure of sites since the start of 2026. Neilson Barnard

In January, Constellation Brands notified more than 200 people at the Mission Bell Winery in Madera that they would be out of work. And Jean-Charles Boisset Collection closed two Napa Valley tasting rooms.

According to a recent report from Wine Business Monthly, there were 4,727 wineries in California in 2025. As of February 2026, there are 4,646.

The number of American adults who say they consume alcohol has fallen to 54%, according to an August 2025 Gallup poll.

A sign for the CDC sits outside of their facility at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Roybal campus in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S., May 30, 2025.

Megan Varner | Reuters

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention told staff it expects them to return to offices by Sept. 15, roughly five weeks after a gunman’s deadly attack on the agency’s headquarters in Atlanta, CNBC has learned.

“Your safety remains our top priority. We are taking necessary steps to restore our workplace and will return to regular on-site operations no later than Monday, September 15,” Lynda Chapman, the agency’s new chief operating officer, said in an email sent Thursday that was viewed by CNBC.

Chapman said all staff will be expected to return to their offices by that date, according to the email. For employees whose workspaces remain impacted by the shooting — including physical damage from the gunman’s attack — the CDC will provide alternative spaces on its campus, Chapman wrote in the email.

She said the agency has made “significant progress” on repairs at the CDC Roybal Campus in Atlanta. CDC leadership and a “Response and Recovery Management” team are working to address staff concerns and ensure a safe environment as the agency transitions back to in-office work, Chapman added.

CDC staff had been instructed to work remotely following the Aug. 8 shooting, with options to return to the office in the weeks that followed, according to two people familiar with the matter, who requested anonymity for fear of retribution for speaking to the media.

The Department of Health and Human Services did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The internal announcement comes at a tumultuous time for the CDC and its workforce. The shooting didn’t result in injuries among CDC staff but shell-shocked a workforce that was already reeling from sweeping changes under HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., including staff cuts and heated controversy over his efforts to change CDC immunization policies and fire the agency’s panel of vaccine advisors.

The return-to-office guidance also comes as the CDC grapples with a leadership upheaval: The White House earlier this week said President Donald Trump had fired the agency’s director, Susan Monarez. Four other top officials resigned, some of them citing the politicization of the agency and a threat to public health.

Authorities identified the gunman behind the shooting at CDC headquarters as Patrick Joseph White and said they recovered five guns and more than 500 shell casings from the scene. During the attack, agency employees were forced to barricade themselves in offices.

White fatally shot a responding police officer, 33-year-old David Rose, and then killed himself. White had blamed the Covid-19 vaccine for making him depressed and suicidal.

Before her firing, Monarez appeared to directly blame the role of misinformation in the shooting, according to an email sent to staff on Aug. 12 that was viewed by CNBC.

In the note, Monarez said, “the dangers of misinformation and its promulgation has now led to deadly consequences. I will work to restore trust in public health to those who have lost it- through science, evidence, and clarity of purpose. I will need your help.”

CBS News quietly slashed three high-level positions ahead of a major round of layoffs across parent company Paramount Global that is expected to kick off this summer, The Post has learned.

The embattled Tiffany Network — which has seen ratings plunge at its morning show and evening news program, and is being sued by President Trump for $20 billion over the controversial “60 Minutes” interview with Kamala Harris — fired two CBS News bureau chiefs and a senior executive on Wednesday, sources said.

Andre Rodriguez, the NYC-based North Bureau Chief, and Maryhelen Campa, the Southern Region Bureau Chief, were let go, according to the insiders.

CBS News is quietly slashing jobs ahead of larger cuts at Paramount Global, which are expected this summer. AP

Both had spent two decades at the company.

Chad Cross, senior vice president of the Beats & Enterprise unit, was also canned, the sources added.

He joined CBS News in 2022.

“It’s a streamlining move,” a source close to the situation said.

The cuts are being described internally as “organizational changes to centralize the internal newsgathering process” — and “not an indication of something bigger,” the source added.

Another CBS insider said the network has “no fat left to cut.”

“If someone calls in sick, everyone feels it,” the person added.

The cuts come amid a report by the Wall Street Journal late Wednesday that Paramount will begin slashing jobs as early as next month in a bid as it awaits approval of the long-stalled $8 billion Skydance merger.

The mass layoffs would follow last year’s brutal bloodbath in which Paramount laid off thousands of employees as part of a $500 million cost cutting plan.

Paramount, which also operates its namesake Hollywood studio, MTV and Showtime, has faced hurdles to close the Skydance deal from President Trump and the Federal Communications Commission.

Currently, Paramount is in talks with Trump’s lawyers over his $20 billion lawsuit over “60 Minutes’” editing of its sit-down with former Vice President Kamala Harris.

The Journal also reported that George Cheeks, co-CEO of Paramount Global and CEO of CBS, is helping negotiate the settlement as the company’s controlling shareholder Shari Redstone pushes for a resolution. Cheeks is expected to land a top job once Skydance closes the deal, The Post reported in March.

Trump is reportedly looking for $100 million to settle the lawsuit — much more than what Paramount is willing to fork over.

As previously reported by The Post, Paramount is hoping to settle for between $15 million and $25 million — which is what Trump accepted to recently settle lawsuits against Disney’s ABC and Meta, respectively.

Multimillionaire anti-aging fanatic Bryan Johnson used nondisclosure agreements to silence workers about his bizarre behavior — such as walking around naked around the office and discussing his “sexual activities, including erections,” according to a bombshell report.

Johnson spends a whopping $2 million annually on his over-the-top regimen – including 54 daily pills and supplements, a nighttime erection tracker, shock therapy and blood transfusions from his then-17-year-old son – making the audacious claim that it has reversed his age by 5.1 years.

His unorthodox health obsession has gained a following for his “Don’t Die” religion, setting him up to launch his health start-up Blueprint and a starring role in a recent Netflix documentary.

But behind the scenes, the 47-year-old former Mormon missionary was pressuring employees, vendors and contract workers at his startup Blueprint, as well as his sexual partners, into signing restrictive confidentiality agreements, according to The New York Times.

Soon after Johnson made his millions from the sale of his payments firm Braintree to PayPal in 2013, he divorced his wife, hired prostitutes and experimented with acid and psychedelics like DMT, the outlet reported after interviewing 30 people for its expose.

Johnson has the chemical structure of DMT tattooed on his arm.

In 2016, he founded Kernel, a brain tech start-up. He had turned down an offer to form a similar company with Tesla founder Elon Musk, who ended up launching Neuralink, according to the report.

As Musk’s star-power grew, Johnson grew more focused on his own image, wondering why he was not getting as much publicity as the Tesla mogul and started to lean more heavily on the NDAs, former friends and employees told the Times.

As of last year, the agreements were 20 pages long with a range of restrictions, like keeping confidential “any nonpublic information regarding Bryan’s home, office, personal effects in his home or office, any spaces rented or owned by Bryan, any vehicles/planes/automobiles/boats/other methods of transportation that are not publicly accessible,” according to a copy reviewed by the Times.

Employees often had to sign up to three separate documents, the Times said.

Bryan Johnson starred in a Netflix documentary released in January about his anti-aging routine. Netflix

One was an unusual “opt-in” document in which staffers had to say they were comfortable with Johnson wearing “little and sometimes no clothing/no underwear” and with hearing “discussions of sexual activities, including erections,” according to a copy viewed by the Times.

They also had to agree that his behavior was not “unwelcome, offensive, humiliating, hostile, triggering, unprofessional or abusive,” according to the report.

In a post on X, Johnson said the opt-in document was “fair to all concerned and is in everyone’s best interest.”

Johnson often walked around wearing little clothing during the workday, and flirted with Blueprint’s largely female staff, sources told The Times.

They said they felt they could not speak up because of the agreements.

A representative for Johnson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Bryan Johnson posted data on social media that tracked his and his son’s nighttime erections. Bryan Johnson/X

Jamie Contento, who was Johnson’s personal assistant, left Blueprint last year and told the Times she emailed human resources to raise concerns about the work environment.

She is one of at least three of Johnson’s former employees – including his former fiancée – to file complaints with the National Labor Relations Board about his confidentiality agreements.

Taryn Southern, Johnson’s former fiancée and employee at Kernel, had previously raised concerns, filing a 2021 lawsuit accusing Johnson of firing her from the company after breaking up with her while she had Stage 3 breast cancer.

In the suit, Southern alleged Johnson pushed her to sign an NDA that included a $500,000 penalty each time she broke the confidentiality rules.

She said Johnson had broken a promise to pay her $150,000 in exchange for rent and moving out of their home after their split, according to the Times.

But Johnson moved the lawsuit to arbitration and in 2023, it was ruled that Southern had to comply with the agreement, which meant she could not sue him.

Johnson countersued for legal fees – and Southern was ordered to pay him more than $584,000.

The health fanatic posted a YouTube video detailing the ordeal, and later made a 2,400 word post on X claiming his health routine had saved Southern from her cancer, and that he feared she would kill him with scissors.

Johnson had said in his YouTube video that he would set up a trust so payments from “his accuser” would go toward her medical fees. He opened the trust last year, but closed it without putting any money into it, according to the Times.

The report also claims statistics about Johnson’s health were cherry-picked, like him reversing aging by 5.1 years – and that results from other studies showed his biological age had actually increased as much as 10 years, according to blood test results viewed by the Times.

In February, Johnson had warned the Times was preparing a hit piece on him “reviving accusations” from Southern “that were twice rejected by two legal forums, repackaging them for clicks.”
